A graduate from Rhode Island College with a dual degree BA in Art History and Film Studies and a minor in studio art, I earned my BFA w/honors in Painting and Printmaking from The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. My art history focus was in American Art 1940-present, with particular interest in women artists and how women were presented in art. My senior thesis exhibit at AIB focused on creating imaginary landscapes influenced by my love of Abstract Expressionism. I was particularly interested in layering, texture and color relationships. Some of these works can be viewed in the portfolio section of this site.
After spending many years expanding my love of visual culture, I have chosen to pursue a career in Art Education. I am currently working on my Master of Arts in Teaching, Art Education at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in partnership with Tufts University. I place a lot of importance on being both an artist AND an educator. By maintaining a studio practice I believe I will be better suited to assisting my students in developing their own artwork.
Currently, I am developing my skills in bookmaking, a creative process I have found an affinity for. I work from my home studio with a cup of tea by my side and my two cats intently watching my every move.
